This takes the pancake.

All of a sudden I'm feeling inadequate. Guess we'll have to step up our game next year, Kristin. Thanks a lot, internet.

Seussilicious

I'm going to respect the copyrights etc. and not duplicate the images here, but if you haven't looked at Dr. Seuss Art, you really should.

My favorites, which I would love to own but not for those prices, are "The Joyous Leaping of Uncanned Salmon," "Every Girl Should Have a Unicorn," and "I Dreamed I Was a Doorman at the Hotel del Coronado."

Some of the others, the ones I would probably not hang on my wall, are pretty funny. For some reason this stuff didn't make it into the children's books.

Yard Art

Wind whirligig.
The first time I encountered this "12" thing, I thought it was idiotic, and then after someone explained it to me, I thought it was narcissistic and idiotic. Maybe football is for the birds.

This dude is as dumb as a post. He didn't say a word the whole time I was there.

Better than an electric doorbell that gets stuck. Also, it encourages visitors to announce their arrival right from the gate, giving you a better chance of pretending you aren't at home.

Sergio Bustamante

This is one of my favorite stores in Tlaquepaque. As it turns out, they don't really want people taking photos inside, but fortunately I got some before the clerk noticed. These same motifs and people reappear in various forms and places, in similar sculptures, done in papier mache, on jewelry, on handbags, etc.

The exterior.

Closer view of one of the figures (In Search of Reason).

A mirror reflecting a typical character.

This sculpture is my favorite.

In the bathroom. They couldn't stop me from taking a picture in there. Yes, that's a big light well behind the sink and mirror.

I really, really wanted this horse statue.
