Argentina Pictures, Part 1: Buenos Aires Architecture

As is typical in Latin America, neighborhoods in Buenos Aires aren't segregated between downtown high-rise areas and retail areas and single-family housing. It's all mixed up. I think this is convenient. There are also lots of big parks and plazas, so you're never too far from open space. Some example scenery:

Lots of skinny high-rise modern buildings:

Apartment buildings near a nice park:

Typical apartment buildings:

 Typical mostly-residential apartment street:

Old and new, side by side:

A small lot is no reason not to build tall:

Sometimes the tall skinny building doesn't have any tall skinny buddies yet:

 Government building ostentation:

I can't remember what this is, but it looks fancy:

If I were moving to Buenos Aires and had oodles of money, I would live in Palermo Chico:

Stripey stripe stripes. We should have more striped buildings here:

I like buildings that have real details and not just the cheapest possible construction:

 Like this one:

 Less mansionish houses:

Fun gates and doors:

Stay tuned for the next installment. Or don't; it might be awhile.
